The party arrived in Port Zangerios during Saturnalia aboard the Brine Harpy. Captain Theron Triton warned them to keep clear of the Drips, by day or night.
At the wharf, a large cargo crate being hoisted by crane was dropped and burst open, releasing an albino ape. It immediately began killing people. The party fought it. Wulfweard cast a fog to obscure the beast from the fleeing crowd. Rathar engaged it directly and was badly injured — near death by the time the Watch arrived and finished it with six spears.
Captain Valeria received the party at the eastern barracks. She offered 75 gp to kill a beggar known as Old Kethros — a man who wears a cracked wooden mask and carries a pendant marked with an owl and crescent. Bring back the pendant. Two days. No protection. The Watch could not be seen to act.
At the Golden Lamprey, Liturga addressed a crowd from atop a barrel about the ape attack. Two men in mirror-polished masks followed her inside and told her they served the same master and were ensuring the work would reach its conclusion. They left without elaborating.
At the Broken Tusk, Cormac — masked, familiar with thieves' cant — told Wulfweard that Valeria uses Guild blades when she cares about outcomes, not strangers. The party was expendable. He warned that others were already moving on the same target.
